I don't start work until 2pm today, so I'm going through all of my stuff except my school papers. I'm making sure that if I were to pick up and go where He leads that I would only be taking the essentials. I share this not so you can think "way to go Nate," but rather as a way of doing something about what I've learned in New Orleans. I refuse to let this just be another "mountain top" experience and just go back to normal life. I've been changed and I want to live accordingly.

Nate,
Wow!!!! its so cool to see the process of giving up everything to God. Not an easy thing to do!!! Nor easy to know what that is to look like.
Just a thought for you to consider. As you sell your possessions and attempt to make a difference in the city don't forget God has also called you to take care of your own self, your own financial responsibilities, your own place that you live. Serving God with everything also looks like caring for what it is that He has given you. So if you do sell your possessions, I'd recommend that you use those resources to take care of your debt and pay your bills. I had a friend from seminary who one time borrowed a couple thousand dollars on his credit card, which he was already in debt and paying high interest on, to give that money to someone else in need. I believe he made a mistake in doing that by not taking care of his own needs.
These are challenging issues to work through and I so applaud you for having the guts to open your heart totally to God with all your stuff. Praying with you as you journey with Christ attempting to be like Him in every way!

After cleaning out a bunch of stuff recently and realizing how much junk I have managed to accumulate, I was seriously tempted to join the Franciscans - they don't own stuff, right?
I figured my being Protestant would probably debar me from membership, though.
